Korean diaspora communities in Britain and the United States process Essay

Korean diaspora communities in Britain and the United States process of fellowship building and notion of homeland - essay ExampleI intend to explore the differing patterns of immigration adaptation of Korean communities in the U.K. and the U.S., the process of community building and the degree of efforts exerted by these two comparable groups to either maintain or reject traditionalistic customs, and their sense of identity attached to or detached from their homeland or the host country. Absolute absolute majority of animate literature on Korean diaspora is concentrated on Koreans in the U.S. Study of Korean communities in Europe has received surprisingly little attention from academia, and s plundert volume of existing scholarly snuff it clearly reflects such neglect. According to the statistics released by the Korean Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Overseas Korean Foundation, the coat of worldwide Korean Diaspora is 7,044,716 as of 2007. China, the U.S. and Japan ar t he top three recipient countries accounting for more than 80 percent of the total population of overseas Koreans. In Europe, excluding the former USSR countries, there are 111,276 social Koreans and the U.K. is home to the largest Korean population in Europe with some 42,000 people. The fact that there is no existing literature on Korean immigrants in Europe provides a good justification for initiating this study. However, novelty only is not a sufficient condition that justifies the significance of one study. Apart from the literature on Korean diaspora communities, there exists an ample volume of scholarly work equivalence the U.K and the U.S. There is an obvious advantage of comparing these two countries as although imperfect, their shared Anglo-Saxon culture, and language can control many endogenous factors that can be problematic while comparing two completely different countries. My intention is not to degenerate the value of existing comparative examinations of Korean co mmunities that have already been done, but to fill in the rift in existing literature by carrying out a research on the group that has not been covered by other researchers before, and uncovering subtle differences - rather than visible differences highlighted in the existing literature on Japan-U.S and China-U.S. comparisons, that exist between the two countries that share many similarities yet subtle differences. Such differences, although they are felt and detected, have not received scholarly attention and therefore exist only in forms of personal anecdotal speculations. The significance of this potential work should not be limited to the field of diaspora studies in parochial Korean context only. It provide also make contribution to studies of ethnic minorities in the U.K. in the British context. Some of the empirical findings will be able to be expanded, generalized and have wider implications in the general diaspora discourse. That is, the ultimate aim of my study, and choo sing Korean immigrant group, is a mere strategic choice made by a novice student coming from Korea, hoping for a smoother entry to the field of ethnicity and migration academia in her initial stage. My ambition for possible further research after the completion of doctoral dissertation will expand to other ethnic groups in different countries, and also different migrant groups recently burgeoning in Korea. Literature ReviewThere exists no comprehensive study on Korean communities in the U.K. atomic number 53 book exists on a Korean community in Europe, that examines the Korean immigrants

Nigeria Kidnappings - Research musical theme ExampleOn the other hand, in the Niger Delta, schoolchildren ar also victims of kidnapping. Noting that Nigeria will soon have its elections, it is an indication that with the rise of criminal acts and insecurity there is a possibility that the elections will fail to be slack and fare. In the recent years, the state of Abia has had a plague of kidnapping, acts of hijacking and robbery. The only way that Nigerian politics has been doing to ensure that such cases are curbed is by negotiating with the kidnappers to get back the victims and also the security forces have been entangled in putting up new strategies to conquer the pervasive issue of kidnapping. In addition, the police forces are being trained to enhance their knowledge and skills to decisively deal with the kidnappers across Nigeria (Omonijo, 2011).The governments have a intention of blaming the pervasive kidnapping wave away from the Niger Delta as a result of the increa sing rates of unemployment across the country. The African continent is the challenge with kidnapping cases since the police force is ineffective and corrupt. Furthermore, the police forces are inadequately equipped to stem such crimes and the relationship that exists between the kidnappers and politicians as well. These elements, however, seem to be more signs of a wide malaise, for instance, pervasive kidnapping is a major symptom failed and failing country. This feature is common in countries which are failing or had failed like Columbia since 19770s to 200.

Economics - Essay ExampleThe short-run or long of one industry is much different from an other. (Moffatt, 2011) A given bulletproofs cost may be reliant upon the clipping or period under consideration. Most of the decisions are quick-frozen when a short-run time assemble is taken into account and thus the long-run and short-run cost curves are different. Short-run costs and costs in the long-run are, however, related. For instance, a long-run average cost curve is more flat in comparison to a U shaped short-run average cost curve. Short-run cost curves ordinarily lie upon the long-run cost curves. go through1. Short-run Average Total approachs of a firm differ from the Long-run Average Total Costs since the fixed costs in the short-run green goddess be va ried over the long-run. (Mankiw, 2008 p256) In the case of an operator of a embrasure, cost might occurs efficiency occurs where the through entrust is made available at the lowest cost possible with resource-prices paid by the operator put into consideration. The economic cost of a port is represented by the sexual congressship depicted by tokenish costs of handling any given throughput levels. Over the short-run time period, there must be at least one of the port resources that should be fixed with regards to amount. For example, the buildings or the wharf of a port are some of the resources that cannot be varied in the short-run period. Unit costs in relation to a ports costs are usually compared by dividing them with their throughput amounts. Cost STC SVC SFC style throughput Figure 3 Average costs in the short-run Cost per unit SATC SAV C SAFC Port throughput Note that SATC stands for Short-run Average Total Costs, SAVC for Short-run Average Variable Costs and SAFC for Short-run Fixed Costs. Short-run average thorough cost is gotten by dividing short-run follow cost with throughput. On the other hand short-run average fixed cost is the short-run fixed costs divided by the throughput and short-run average variable star cost is short-run variable cost divided by throughput. Average fixed cost reduces in a continuous manner as the level of throughput rises that is, since a fixed cost continues to be divided by bigger and bigger amounts of throughput of the port. As the amount of throughput rises, average variable cost as well as short-run average cost reduce initially, get to a minimum and afterwards rise. In the ports long-run, the costs in whole are variable. Therefore, long-run total costs that are incurred by the operator of the port of the port for the given throughput amounts are a total of variable costs. Lon g-run average total costs are equal to long-run total costs divided by total ports throughput. A long-run average total cost curve has a negative slope for a given range of throughput and then it starts to increase. However, perceptions of diminished general wellness correlated significantly with symptoms of exercise intolerance, lightheadedness/dizziness, palpitations and chest pain/pressure. By multivariable logistic regression, more repelling perceived episodes, symptoms of exercise intolerance and lightheadedness/dizziness were independently associated with diminished quality of life.RELEVANCE TO clinical PRACTICE The findings of this study repoint that symptomaticheart unsuccessful personpatients suffer from poor quality of life and that interventions are needed to improve quality of life and decrease symptom severity. Nurses who care forheart failurepatients play an essential role in symptom evaluation and management and could significantly improve general quality of life in these patients by c arefully evaluating symptomatology and testing interventions and educational programmes aimed at improving quality of life (Hickey, et al., 2102).METHODS In a cross-sectional study of 318 patients with chronic systolic HF recruited in 48 German primary care practices, we evaluated the patient-reported European HF Self-careBehaviourscale (EHFScBs) assessments (range 12-60, where lower scores indicate better self-care). Potential determinants included socio-demographic (e.g. age, living status), clinical (e.g. NYHA class, LVEF, NT-proBNP levels, co-morbidities), behavioural (e.g. smoking and alcohol intake), psychosocial (SF-36 scales and KCCQ domains, e.g. quality of life and self-efficacy) anddepressionstatus (PHQ-D), plus previous health care utilisation. Mixed regression modelling was applied.RESULTS Patients had a mean (SD) age of 69.0 (10.4) years and were 71% male. They had a good overall EHFScBs score of 24.7 (7.8) (n=274). In the final regression model (n=271), six determina nts were retained ( descriptive p-value)

Feedback and Evaluation Paper Essay Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 1000 words

Feedback and Evaluation Paper - Essay showcaseIt has a diverse workforce from all around the continent with recognized worldwide reputation for its blueprint and leadership (CalPERS, 2012). The feedback mechanisms are a way to improve the services provided by the Calpers the Retirement authorisation for the evince of California employees. Mostly, the riddles are difficult, secrecy, and too pension programs tend to get boring with time. So, feedback is essential for this retirement agency of California as well. First of all, the scale of the problem should be recognized. Identifying the problem is the basic step from where feedback is generated. It is the feedback of the customers, as well as employees which pave the way for feedback mechanisms. The internal and external feedback mechanisms allow the comp any to prosper to a greater extent successfully and enhance the atmosphere of the organization (State University, 2012). Firstly, the political leaders of California should re alize the profundity of received financial deficits in the economy as what will the future implications will be. The company has found kayoed that if pension systems even earn 7.5 to 7.75 percent on a yearly basis, CALPERS will only take on 73.5 to 75.3 correspondingly. The pension systems today cannot find their way out of this current scenario which is absolutely devastating. The debt of the solid ground of California is chop-chop increasing everyday as political instability continues to pertain in the region. Obviously, the retirement agencies like CALPERS are highly affected by such traumas. This situation is rather tragic and disappointing, but it is very high-priced for Retirement firms as well (CalPERS, 2012). Whenever the leaders do not act on the situation, the cost increases to the citizens and state and possibly to public workers to whom the state owe pension. This condition is comparable to an adverse loan amortization, which is a scenario where the possessor of t he house does not pay much for the principal owed and thus goes into an even shredder condition. The delay which takes place in this situation over the period of next year can be figured out from any underfunded sum. The 6.2 percent rate of discount leads to yearly pitfalls for the CALPERS system and thus only $16.8 is estimated to be given to CALPERS, CalSTRS and UCRP combined. This problem has to be highlighted in the company (CalPERS, 2012) The feedback and evaluation programs are very important for CaLPERS. For this purpose, direct administration of assort Program or Program Evaluator is required who assists in the planning and conducting of field audits of employment records and payroll department at the public agencies to testify that the agencies are enrolling employees in accordance with the Law set by the prevalent Employees Retirement Law. Personal Operative Theory Classroom Management Assignment

Personal Operative Theory classroom Management - Assignment ExampleThese beliefs are important to me because based on my personal experiences as a child and in teaching some children, children have tendencies of understanding things better through positive repayment. To bemuse studying and gaining an enjoyable experience it must be taught through empowering ways, and that disciplining must be carried in a caring, respectful, and fair manner (Spitzer, 2009).2. On an educators standpoint, while it is still important for me that children learn the lessons effectively, I deem their attainment of positive attitudes, having pro-social behavior, and accepting responsibility to be essential in their learning processes. I feel that imparting these behaviors in children are important because while they may forget the minute academic lessons that they learn, their behaviors will stay longer with them, and thus by helping them gain positive and racy behaviors as early as speak upable, thi s will help them grow up into well-adjusted and responsible adults in the future (Durlak, et al., 2011). As their guide, I deem myself to have primary responsibility within the classroom to reinforce positive behavior and detect and discipline negative or anti-social behaviors (with dignity and respect) at the earliest possible time, and as students I expect them to treat their classmates with respect through open-mindedness, to treat others as equals and not think that they are above others, and to be responsible with their studies (e.g. submit assignments on time).3. I believe that respect is something that is intimate through application and has a strong impact on an individual.
